Currently the Practice employs two Directors, one Associate Director, four Senior Engineers, three CAD Technicians, together with an Office and Administration Officer.

Bill Grossart, B.Sc.(Hons) C.Eng. M.I.C.E. - Director

Bill graduated from Strathclyde University with Bachelor of Science with Honours in Civil Engineering in July 1976. He was admitted as a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in June 1979.

Bill has over 30 years experience in the Construction Industry. He founded Grossart Associates in January 1985. Prior to that, he had worked in both private practice and within various departments in a Local Authority.

He has considerable experience and involvement in Building Structures, encompassing a wide range of Civil and Structural engineering projects for both the public and private sectors. This involvement has included residential, commercial, retail and industrial developments.

As a Director, he is experienced in managing a wide variety of Construction projects. Present projects include the provision of engineering services for Housing for the Disabled projects in Irvine, Kilwinning and Dalry in Ayrshire, major upgrades to commercial premises for Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises, Belhaven and Punch Taverns and various Housing Developments throughout Scotland.

In addition, Bill has recently managed the construction of fire garages on the Isle of Arran and Mineworks Stabilisation in Saltcoats, Ayrshire.

John MacDonald, B.Sc.(Hons) C.Eng. M.I.Struct.E. - Director

John graduated from Paisley College of Technology with Bachelor of Science with Honours in Civil Engineering in July 1971. Admitted as a Corporate Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1978.

John has been involved in the Construction Industry for over 35 years, gaining contracting experience as an undergraduate and working, thereafter, in a senior position within various private consultancy practices, prior to assuming a Partnership in January 1993.

Over this period of time, he has been closely involved with the design of residential, commercial and industrial developments, gaining a broad experience in Concrete, Steelwork, Masonry and Timber design.

He has been associated with projects for the petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, together with private and public residential developments, including tenement refurbishment works. He has also been involved in the design of many industrial and commercial developments.

As a Director, he has been involved in the expansion and development of the practice over the last few years. He is experienced in managing a wide variety of construction projects. Present projects include the provision of engineering services for an Industrial Development in East Kilbride; Commercial New Build Project in Irvine; Refurbishment of Licensed and Retail Premises in Glasgow, Fort William, Inverness and Kilmarnock; Timeshare Village in Perthshire.

Stephen Cowie, B.Sc. C.Eng. M.I.Struct.E. - Senior Engineer

Stephen graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Science Degree in June 1980. Elected as a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in October 1995.

Stephen has approximately 30 years experience in the construction industry, ranging from Student Engineer through to Senior Design Engineer.

He has gained considerable experience in civil and structural engineering projects using concrete, steelwork, masonry and timber.

He has been associated with sizeable civil and structural projects for commercial concerns, Local Authorities, Water Authorities, Private Developers and Housing Associations. He has also been closely involved with the design of industrial developments.

As Senior Design Engineer, he is experienced in a wide variety of construction projects, through provision of detailed information and management of site works.

Present projects include substantial structural alterations for licensed retail outlets throughout Scotland, commercial new build in Glasgow and provision of surgeries for Medical General Practitioners.

Allan Fraser, B.Eng.(Hons) C.Eng. M.I.Struct.E. - Senior Engineer

Allan graduated from Paisley University with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree with Honours in 1997. Elected as a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in August 2002.

He has gained considerable experience in civil and structural engineering projects working mainly with concrete, steelwork, masonry and timber.

He has been mainly associated with structural works, dealing with new build through to alterations to existing structures. Previous experience has been gained working on new office / production buildings, health centres, housing developments and tenement rehabilitation works.

As a Design Engineer, he has experience working within a design team from a project’s initial inception to its completion, attending various design / site meetings in the process.

Present projects include substantial structural alterations and extension to school premises in North Ayrshire, new access bridge in East Ayrshire and various internal alterations to licensed premises throughout central Scotland.
